JD Gaming Head Coach, Homme, who had been with the team since 2018 and had become a crucial part of the club’s sports project, announced today his temporary retirement from competitive League of Legends after today’s defeat in the semifinals against T1.

His words made it clear: «Today I should have done better; my performance has contributed to the defeat. The players have worked hard and endured a lot. I apologize to LPL fans for not meeting their expectations. In the future, I hope you continue to cheer for JDG. Next year, I will temporarily leave this stage, and it’s a shame that it wasn’t a dignified ending. At least we’ve won 3 Worlds, so don’t be too sad!»

During last year’s offseason, Homme hinted at returning to Korea for a break, as he had just welcomed a child with his wife. However, securing the signings of Knight and Ruler changed his mind, keeping him with the organization throughout 2023.

We’ll see what Homme’s future holds and whether he intends to return at some point. Most importantly, we’ll be curious to find out who will take his place in the LPL’s champion.
